My Tribute to Hélène Cixous

Hélène Cixous, a French feminist philosopher, tends to wear bright red lipstick, a pencil skirt, and very high heels. Asked how she resolves her feminist commitments with her feminine attire, she responded that she dresses in such a manner very intentionally. She wants anyone intimidated, or skeptical, of her ideas to feel, when speaking with her, that she is fully capable of eating them alive.

Following are my outfit recommendations for ways to fulfill the Cixous-commitment in a variety of challenging circumstances.

1. When taking over a company:

Balenciaga, F 08

2. When taking over Ancient China, via Mongolia, in an alternate universe:

Gareth Pugh, F 08

3. When deciding to take on the headless horseman:

Chanel Resort 09

4. When facing down the ice bears of the north:

Rick Owens F 08

5. In the future of an alternate universe, after ancient China defeats the Mongolian invasion and partners up with Darth Vader:

Hussein Chalayan F 07

6. And finally, while yelling to post-apocolyptic New York City from the roof of a tenement building, just before transforming the world's understanding of music and gender simultaneously:

David Bowie in his mid-70s Halloween Jack persona
