Thinking Shapes

The Ultimate Example: Daphne Guiness

I am very interested in moving towards incorporating more pieces into my wardrobe that take up contemporary views of the New Look of the 1940's, and then its continued development into the 1950's--that is nipped in waist, constructed hourglass shape. I like a soft hourglass look too, but am specifically here talking about clothing that has crisp lines following this specific form.

Model Suzy Parker in Balenciaga, 1953

Dior (I think), circa 1950

Contemporary examples:

YSL S/S 09

Haider Ackermann, F/W 10
