I saw her sing when I was in Chicago at a Hugh Masekela and Manu Dibango show. At that time she was just supporting whomever she was working with. I am pretty sure it was Manu Dibango when he was touring his Wakafrika album.
ReplyDeleteAll of the women there were wearing dresses in amazing bold vibrant african print fabrics; a lot of the men were wearing shirts of the same fabric. I showed up there kind of randomly because I wanted to see live music; definitely not a hipster scene, but it was a really warm atmosphere.
I love the short shot of the audience where the guy looks like he is trying to catch her music and wash himself with it.
